( Japanese Note Below ) Eliezer and the Mission to get Isaac a Wife Genesis 24:10-13 NIV Then the servant left, taking with him ten of his master’s camels loaded with all kinds of good things from his master. He set out for Aram Naharaim and made his way to the town of Nahor. (11) He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.(12) Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. (13) See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. Genesis 24:14-18 NIV May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”(15) Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. (16) The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.(17) The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.”(18) “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. Genesis 24:19-23 NIV After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” (20) So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels. (21) Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the Lord had made his journey successful.(22) When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels.(23) Then he asked, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night?” Genesis 24:24-28 NIV She answered him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son that Milkah bore to Nahor.” (25) And she added, “We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room for you to spend the night.”(26) Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, (27) saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives.(28) The young woman ran and told her mother’s household about these things. Genesis 24:40-42 NIV “He replied, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked faithfully, will send his angel with you and make your journey a success, so that you can get a wife for my son from my own clan and from my father’s family. (41) You will be released from my oath if, when you go to my clan, they refuse to give her to you—then you will be released from my oath.’(42) “When I came to the spring today, I said, ‘Lord, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success to the journey on which I have come. Genesis 24:63-67 NIV He went out to the field one evening to meditate,and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. (64) Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel (65)and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?”“He is my master,” the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.(66) Then the servant told Isaac all he had done. (67) Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death. Luke 19:10 NIV For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” John 3:16 NIV For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. エリエゼルとイサクのために妻を見つける任務 創世記 24:10-13 JCB さっそく、旅行の準備にかからなければなりません。まず、らくだを十頭選びました。また、贈り物として最上の物を幾つかより分けました。それを全部らくだに積み終えると、一行はナホル（アブラハムの兄弟）の住むアラム・ナハライム地方（現在のイラクの一地域）へ向かったのです。 (11) いよいよ目的地に着くという時、アブラハムの召使は、町はずれの泉のそばにらくだを座らせました。ちょうど夕方で、女たちが水くみに来る時刻でした。(12) 彼は祈りました。「私の主人アブラハムの神様、どうぞご主人様に恵みをお与えください。また、私がこの旅の目的を果たせますよう、お助けください。(13) いま私は、この泉のかたわらで、娘たちが水をくみに来るのを待っています。 創世記 24:14-18 JCB そこで、こうしていただけないでしょうか。娘たちに水を下さいと頼むつもりですが、その時もし、『ええ、どうぞ。らくだにも飲ませましょう』と言ってくれたら、その娘さんこそイサク様の妻となるべき娘だ、ということにしてください。そうすれば、主人アブラハムへの神様のお恵みを知ることができます。」(15-16) このように祈っていると、リベカという美しい娘が水がめを肩にのせ、泉にやって来ました。そして、水がめに水をいっぱい入れました。彼女の父親はベトエルと言い、アブラハムの兄弟ナホルと妻ミルカの息子でした。 (17) アブラハムの召使はさっそく彼女に走り寄って、水を飲ませてほしいと頼みました。 (18)「どうぞ、どうぞ」と、その娘はすぐに水がめを下ろし、彼が飲み終わるのを見はからって 創世記 24:19-23 JCB こう言いました。「そうそう、らくだにもたっぷり飲ませてあげましょう。」 (20)彼女は水をおけにあけると、また小走りでくみに行き、 (21) すべてのらくだに飲ませたのでした。召使は、はたして彼女が自分の探していた娘なのかどうか見きわめようと、無言のまま、じっと彼女のかいがいしい仕事ぶりを見守っていました。(22) そして、らくだが水を飲み終わる頃合に、金の鼻輪と、金の腕輪を二つ、彼女に渡して尋ねました。(23)「つかぬことを伺いますが、お父様のお名前は何とおっしゃるのですか。それに、できれば今夜、お宅に泊めていただくわけにはまいりませんでしょうか。」 創世記24:24-28 JCB 「父はベトエルです。ナホルとミルカの息子ですよ。もちろん、ご遠慮はいりません。どうぞお泊まりください。(25) らくだのためのわらや餌も十分ありますし、お客様用のお部屋もございます。」(26) 老召使は立ったまま頭を垂れ、その場で主を礼拝しました。(27)「主人アブラハムの神様、ありがとうございます。なんというお恵みでしょう。主人への約束を、こんなにもすばらしい方法でかなえてくださるとは。主人の親族にこんなに早く会えるとは思ってもみませんでした。何もかもあなたのお引き合わせです。ほんとうにありがとうございます。」(28) 一方、娘は家へ駆け戻り、家族に客のことを話しました。 創世記24:40-42 JCB すると主人は、そんな心配はいらない、と申します。『必ず見つかる。これまで私は主のお心に背いたことはない。大丈夫、主が天使を遣わして、必ずうまくいくようにしてくださる。だから、私の親類から嫁を見つけて来なさい。(41) 必ずそうすると誓ってもらう。それでも万一、娘をこんな遠くにはよこせないと断られたら、その時はしかたがない。そのまま一人で帰って来てよい』と、そう申すのでございます。(42) そのようなわけで、今日の午後、泉にたどり着いた時、私はこう祈りました。『主人アブラハムの神様、もしも私が使命を無事に果たせるようにお助けくださるのでしたら、どうぞこのようにしてください。 創世記24:63-67 JCB 夕暮れの野を散歩しながら物思いにふけっていた時です。ふと目を上げると、向こうかららくだの一行が来るのが見えます。(64) リベカもイサクに気づき、すぐにらくだから降りました。(65) リベカは老召使に尋ねました。「あそこにいらっしゃる方はどなたですの？　私たちを迎えにいらしたのかしら。」「おお、あれが若だんな様でございますよ。」そう言われて、彼女はあわててベールをかぶりました。(66) 老召使はイサクにこれまでの一部始終を話しました。(67) イサクはリベカを、亡き母サラが使っていたテントに連れて行きました。こうして二人は結婚したのです。イサクは妻を心から愛し、母親を亡くした悲しみも、妻を得たことで慰められました。 ルカ 19:10 JCB メシヤ（救い主）のわたしは、このような人を捜し出して救うために来たのです。 ヨハネ 3:16 JCB 実に神は、ひとり子をさえ惜しまず与えるほどに、この世界を愛してくださいました。それは、神の御子を信じる者が、だれ一人滅びず、永遠のいのちを得るためです。
